Title Determination of Performances of Selected Promising Clones from Some Crossbreed Potato (Solanum tuberosum L.) Genotypes

Abstract A lot of foreign potato varieties are produced in Turkey. However, there is no common potato variety, grown both national and commercial level. In this study, performances of about 70 promising clones, selected of 20 thousand scanned plants, developed from seeds of 13 potato clones family, originated The International Potato Center (CIP), have been determined since 2007. These clones were compared with some standard varieties (Safrane, Elodie, Marfona, Agria, Marabel, Cosmos, Van Gogh, Bamba, Agata, Arnova, Milva, Basciftlik Beyazi). This study was conducted with 3 replications in randomized block design, Tokat province, Artova district conditions, 2010 and 2011. 68 clones, selected from a breeding research, having been conducted since 2007, were used in this study. The purpose of this study is to determine the clones, selected from these clones, showed better performance than standard varieties. According to the findings, obtained from 2 years, while average tuber weight was 64.7 g for standard cultivars, it was 83.7 g for clones. Similarly, while average tuber yield per hill was 594.6 g for standard cultivars, it was 1034.6 g for clones. The highest tuber yield per hill for clones was 2549.0 g. On the other hand average total tuber yield was 2476.8 kg / da for standard cultivars, while this value was 3039.6 kg/da for clones. The highest total tuber yield for clones was determined 7749.0 kg/da.
