Title Determination of Effects of Different Gamma Rays Applied to Seeds on Some Characteristics of Yaşa-05 and Hisar Chickpea Varieties

Abstract This study was carried out under controlled laboratory conditions in 2011 so as to determine the effect on some properties of M1 population of Yaşa-05 and Hisar chickpea varieties using 9 different doses (0, 100, 150, 200, 250, 300, 400, 500, ve 600 Gy) of radioactive cobalt (60Co) gamma cell source which has 2.190 kGy/h the irradiation power . Increased radiation doses were detected to be effective in a negative way of the exit rate, seedling height and seedling dry weight in M1 population of Yaşa-05 and Hisar chickpea varieties, also root length of Yaşa-05 chickpea variety was affected adversely. The exit rate, seedling height and seedling dry weight values were found statistically significant at rates of 1% in M1 population of Yaşa-05 and Hisar. Root length values were found statistically significant at rates of 1% in M1 population of Yaşa-05. Yaşa-05 and Hisar were found to be the optimal dose range 150-250 Gy.
