Abstract Soil and water are basis of plantal production. Inadequate water affects directly live their lives especially in arid and semi-arid ecosystems. Beside in these regions economical and efficient use of water resources is necessary use of same water again and again. In urban areas being covered soil increase runoff modulus. This flow of water must be submitted re-use with water harvesting techniques. Water harvesting application should be started in phase of planning and designing. Water harvesting techniques which have directed and stored the flow of water, improved of soil properties, selecting of plant species, mulching techniques, become more of an issue gradually in urban areas and campus. In this study, in urban areas re-use or storage of water runoff was examined related to on the current application in our country and abroad, and was recommendations presented for water use. Also remarkable elements were emphasized in planned landscape attempts.
