Abstract Çanakkale province has an important potential for apple production. In apple production, damage of Apple Clearwing Moth (Synathedon myopaeformis) Borkh (Lepidoptera; Sesiidae) is considerable. This study was executed in Çanakkale in the years 2006-2007, to acquire some data for control of the pest. Population development of apple clearwing moth was investigated by counting the adults in pheromone traps weekly, in 3 orchards in central district and 1 orchard in Lapseki- Umurbey in 2006 and in 5 orchards in central district in 2007. Emergence of adults has started at the end of April in both years. In 2006, increase of adult emergence was observed towards the end of May and 20 adults were seen in every trap in Kepez-1 orchard in central district. Despite the observation of adults in traps in Kepez-2 orchard, Saraycık village and Lapseki district through all season, density of population remained low and counting of adults continued until the beginning of September. Similarly in 2007, adults was first caught in traps at the end of April, adult number per trap was counted as an average of 20 in the middle of May and adult number was low in other orchards. As a result adult population density was found high at the beginning of the season in 2006 and 2007. But population density of the pest was found different for all orchards. This situation was related to the difference of practices between different orchards.
