Title The Effect of Rural Tourism in Regional Development a Case Study: Ağlasun Yeşilbaşböy

Abstract With the participation of the broad masses, today, tourism activity has become an important industry in terms of social, political, technological and economic reasons. Increased competition with globalization has turned the tourism sector into the driving force of development for both developed and developing countries. As a result, in addition to the classical understanding of tourism, these countries have begun to shift towards alternative types of tourism. As rural tourism, one of alternative types of tourism, is a type of tourism based both on rural areas and on natural resources, this tourism type enables protecting the natural environment, makes significant contributions for sustainable tourism, offers additional income opportunity to the people living there as well as economic development of the region. Given these benefits, the importance of rural tourism in our country is increasing with each passing day. The objective of this study is to emphasize the importance of rural tourism as its effect relieving interregional disparities and examine the potential of rural tourism Yeşilbaşköy situated in Ağlasun, in the province of Burdur. In this study, of qualitative research methods, in-depth interviews technique is used. Interviews have been conducted using a random sampling method and with relevant stakeholders. In accordance with collected data, SWOT analysis is made for the region the terms of rural tourism and weaknesses and opportunities-threats have been studied. The findings offer insight into the planning of rural tourism development in a way to support the rural development.
