Title Evaluation In Terms Of Rural Tourism Potential and Socio-Economic Development of Kilis Province

Abstract In areas where industrialization is not common, it must be developed alternative industries in order to reach a certain standard of living, minimize internal or external migration. In this respect, tourism sector is among the strongest sectors. Kilis has been home to many civilizations in the historical process with its nature and geography conducive to settlement. Fort his reason, it has the rich tourism potential. However, it has been observed that current wealth has not been evaluate in terms of tourism activities. Looking at the socio-economic structure of Kilis, vast majority of people continue their lives with agriculture and animal husbandry activities. Based on this situation, with agriculture and animal husbandry activities, rural tourism activities can be realized by performing the tourism activities and increasing the benefit rate of rural areas. Although there are more than one type of alternative tourism in Kilis, it can be said that the most important option is rural tourism. As a result of the implementation of rural tourism activities in Kilis, it is quite likely to increase the rate of employment and welfare by contributing to the province’s economy and prevent population concentration in certain areas by obstructed rural-to-urban migration. In this paper, in the context of evaluation and sustainability of natural, historic and cultural heritage, a conceptual analysis was performed as to the rural tourism which is able to perform in Kilis, it was tried to determine the potential impacts to socio-economic development of Kilis of rural tourism.
