Title A Research on the Efficiency and Productivity of Festivals as a Touristic Product (Sample of Erzurum-Oltu Kırdağ Festival)

Abstract Turkey has extremely rich values in terms of its culture tourism potential. Although Turkey has richer values than several countries in culture tourism, it has not reached the desired level yet. One of the most important reasons for this is thought to be paying more attention to the triple of sea, sun and sand in the publicity and marketing works. In other words, this kind of tourism is overshadowed by holiday tourism. While festivals contribute to the cultural exchange among the people of the world, it also provides important contributions to the development of the cities and making them a brand city. In this study, the efficiency and productivity of Kırdağ festival, held annually in Oltu district of Erzurum Province, was evaluated by the consumers participating in the festival and in terms of the costs of the festival. In the research, a questionnaire was administered to more than 400 consumers, and 390 of them were taken into evaluation. Questionnaires were prepared by using the Kano model, and the expectations of consumers and their satisfaction levels regarding the festival held in 2010 were determined. Additionally, an evaluation was made for the costs taken from Oltu Municipality. According to the results obtained from the study, several suggestions were developed in order to increase consumer satisfaction and reduce costs in the festivals to be held in the future.
