The data were collected through the use of written Discourse Completion Task (DTC), with 12 questions on 4 topics (appearance, ability, possession and personality). At first the students were provided with the translation of this questionnaire into their mother tongue. After that they were supposed to fill the questionnaire in Turkish. Then their responses in their mother tongue were compared with their answers in Turkish. The aim of this study is to explore the compliment response strategies in Kyrgyz, Russian and Turkish as well as to determine whether any pragmatic transfer occurs or not in the responses of the students.
